Play fair

NewEarth Rules

A few simple rules keep NewEarth fun and safe for everyone.

  1. Be kind

Be friendly and help each other. Everyone should have fun.

  2. Use clean language

No bad words, mean jokes or bullying in chat or on signs.

  3. Keep personal info private

Never share your real name, school, address or phone number. Chat blocks questions about things like age, school or address. Want to know? Ask in person, or have a parent ask.

  4. Don't take what isn't yours

No stealing from chests, farms or builds.

  5. Ask before building nearby

Ask first before building close to someone else's place. How land claims work.

  6. No griefing, fire or lava trouble

Don't break or ruin other people's things. Be careful with fire and lava. Keep your own builds safe with a land claim.

  7. No cheating of any kind

No hacked clients, x-ray, or cheat mods, even as a joke or to show a friend. Cheaters get caught and called out.

Busted! Common cheats are blocked and caught. No anti-cheat is perfect, so admins keep watch too. It catches things like x-ray (hidden ores turn into silly fake blocks), flying, speed, reach, kill aura, auto-clickers, hitting through walls, fast building or towering (scaffold), and breaking blocks too fast (nuker). Suspected cheating goes privately to the admins. If we can tell exactly which cheat someone tried, everyone finds out: an alert with a funny line goes out in the game and is posted in the Discord #general channel (naming the player and the cheat, but never where they are), they're marked as a CHEATER for 15 minutes with a countdown bar everyone can see (it pauses while they're offline), and for the next week every time they log in the server announces that they tried that cheat. If they cheat again during that week, the week starts over. Every catch is also reported privately to the admins on Discord. How cheating is handled.

  8. Speak up with /report

If something is wrong or someone makes you uncomfortable, type /report in the game. The admins get it right away. You can always tell a parent too.

Something wrong? Type /report in the game. It instantly alerts the admins in a private, admin-only Discord channel, and automatically includes where it happened, a map picture of the area, and the chat from 5 minutes before and after. Reports and locations go only to the admins and are never public. /helpme and /reportplayer work too. Send one every 60 seconds, up to 10 a day. How /report works.

If someone breaks a rule

  1. 1st problem: a warning.
  2. Next: a 15-minute mute.
  3. A 2nd mute in the same day lasts 72 hours.
  4. After 3 mutes: a ban.

A mute also locks your chat (chat, /msg, mail, signs and books). It stays locked after the mute ends, until a parent unlocks it with /chatcode. Each later mute locks it again.

Admins can step in at any time. Cheating is handled separately: see the Busted! box.

If a player is banned, their parent can contact the admins on the Parents page.

Chat is open from your first join. If you're muted, your chat, private messages (/msg), mail, signs and books get locked. They stay locked after the mute ends, until a parent unlocks them with /chatcode. How the parent unlock works.

Chat is monitored. The admins can see chat and activity on the server to keep everyone safe. Parents can read more here.

Chat and Discord: Game chat and our Discord #general channel are connected. Everything is filtered both ways, and only verified members can talk from Discord into the game. Private messages (/msg), mail and staff chat never go to Discord.
