For Parents

How NewEarth keeps kids safe, and how to reach the admins.

What's different on NewEarth

NewEarth is set up to be gentle and family-friendly. We leave out magic themes and gory or frightening content, and a few changes simply keep play kind and less frustrating for kids.

These changes apply in every world, including Creative:

  • Enchanting, potions, brewing and totems are turned off.
  • These mobs are removed: zombies, witches, magic-using illagers (evokers, vexes and illusioners), phantoms, ghasts, withers, allays and creakings.
  • Mobs can't damage builds.
  • PvP is off: players can't hurt each other.
  • Keep inventory: players keep their items when they die.
  • No money of any kind: players trade, barter or give each other items. /pay and /bal are turned off.

Building, exploring, farming, animals and adventure are all still there.

What is monitored and logged

  • Chat messages
  • Commands players type
  • Block changes (who placed or broke what), so damage can be undone

Backups: the worlds are backed up automatically, including every night.

Cheating: common cheats are blocked and caught, such as x-ray, flying, speed, reach, kill aura, auto-clickers, hitting through walls, fast building or towering (scaffold) and breaking blocks too fast. No anti-cheat is perfect, so admins keep watch too. Suspected cheating goes privately to the admins. Only when we can tell exactly which cheat was tried is it called out publicly: an alert in the game and the same call-out posted in the Discord #general channel naming the player and the cheat (no location is shared), a "CHEATER" mark for 15 minutes with a countdown bar everyone can see (it pauses while they're offline), and for the next week an announcement at every login (the week restarts if they cheat again). Every catch is also reported privately to the admins on Discord. See the rules.

Who sees it: only trusted adult admins. Logs are never posted on this website or shared publicly.

This site never shows children's real names, chat logs or player locations.

How to report a problem

The quickest way: your child types /report in the game.

  • It instantly alerts the admins in a private, admin-only Discord channel.
  • It automatically includes where it happened, a map picture of the area, and the chat from 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after the report.
  • Reports and locations go only to the admins and are never public.
  • /helpme and /reportplayer work too, even if chat is locked or the player is muted.
  • Players can send one report every 60 seconds, up to 10 a day.

Prefer to write to us yourself? Parents can also use the contact form below. Including the Minecraft name involved and roughly when it happened helps.

Chat and the parent unlock

Chat is open for every player from their first join. A player's chat, private messages (/msg), mail, signs and books are only locked if they're muted. When the mute ends, chat stays locked until a parent unlocks it:

  1. Your child types /chatcode in the game to get a code.
  2. You text that code to the number shown in the game.
  3. Chat unlocks automatically. The admins check the number the code came from.

Any later mute locks chat again until a parent unlocks it again.

The number is shown only inside the game, never on this website. Read the player guide.

Personal info: chat blocks questions about personal info like age, school or address. Players get a friendly reminder to ask in person, or have a parent ask.

Chat and Discord: Game chat and our Discord #general channel are connected. Everything is filtered both ways, and only verified members can talk from Discord into the game. Private messages (/msg), mail and staff chat never go to Discord.

If a rule is broken

A warning comes first, then a 15-minute mute. A 2nd mute in the same day lasts 72 hours, and after 3 mutes a player is banned. Each mute also locks chat until a parent unlocks it (see above). Admins can step in at any time, and cheating is handled separately (see above).

If your child is banned, you can contact the admins with the form below. See the rules.

How access works

NewEarth is free, but it's not a public server. It's a family and friends server, and access is by approval for those who qualify.

A parent sends the request, and every request is reviewed by the admins. Every player is approved before they can join.

Contact the Admins

Not open yet: this form isn't switched on yet, so messages can't be sent right now. Please check back soon.

Please use Minecraft names only, not children's real names.
