How to Join

Pick your device. Remember: you need to be approved first. Knowing the address doesn't let you in.

NewEarth is free, but it's not a public server. It's a family and friends server, and access is by approval for those who qualify. Not approved yet? Request access first. The server only lets in approved players.

Play on both? If you play on Java and Bedrock, an admin can link the two accounts so you're the same player on both. Ask to link accounts.

Computer (Java)

  1. Open Minecraft: Java Edition (use the newest version).
  2. Click Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Server Name: NewEarth.
  4. Server Address: copy the address below. You don't need to add a port.
  5. Click Done, then pick NewEarth and click Join Server.

  1. Open Minecraft and sign in with your Microsoft account (a parent can help).
  2. Tap Play, then the Servers tab.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add Server.
  4. Server Name: NewEarth. Address and port: copy them below.
  5. Tap Save, then tap NewEarth to join.

Xbox

Consoles can't add custom servers directly. There are two free workarounds. Ask a parent to help set one up.

Option 1: BedrockTogether app (easiest)

  1. On a phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi as the console, install the free BedrockTogether app.
  2. In the app, enter the address and port below, then tap Run. Leave the app open.
  3. On the console, open Minecraft, choose Play, then the Friends tab.
  4. NewEarth shows up under LAN Games. Select it to join.

Option 2: BedrockConnect (change the console's DNS)

  1. A parent changes the console's network DNS setting to the BedrockConnect server address listed on the official BedrockConnect project page.
  2. Open Minecraft, go to the Servers tab, and pick any featured server. A server list appears instead.
  3. Choose Connect to a Server and type the address and port above.

This uses a free third-party DNS service, so it's a family decision. You can switch the DNS back to automatic any time.

Some consoles may also need their online membership for online play. Check with a parent.

Test my ping

Checking the server…

Measures the network path from your device to the NewEarth server over UDP, close to what Bedrock sees. Java uses a different connection and isn't tested here.

Good to know

If your chat gets locked

Chat is open from your first join! It only gets locked if you're muted. Then chat, private messages (/msg), mail, signs and books stay locked after the mute ends, until a parent unlocks them.

  1. Type /chatcode to get your code.
  2. A parent texts that code to the number shown in the game.
  3. Chat unlocks automatically. Admins check the number.

Any later mute locks it again until a parent unlocks it again.

  • /chatcode

    Shows your chat code.

The number is shown only inside the game, not on this website. More about chat and the parent unlock.

Getting around

Type a command to move between worlds:

  • /creative

    Takes you to Creative.

  • /spawn

Takes you back to Survival spawn.

See all the worlds.

Troubleshooting

"You are not whitelisted" or "not allowed"

You haven't been approved yet, or your request used a different name. Send a request or ask a parent to contact the admins.

"Unable to connect" or it keeps loading
  • Check the address spelling. Use the copy buttons above.
  • Bedrock needs port 19132.
  • The server may be restarting. Check the status on the Home page and try again in a few minutes.
"Outdated client" or "outdated server"

Update Minecraft to the newest version from your app store or launcher.

Console: NewEarth doesn't show under LAN Games

Make sure the phone and console are on the same Wi-Fi and the BedrockTogether app is still open and running.

Still stuck?

Ask a grown-up to send a message through the Parents page.
